Dear Sailors,
An invitation to join the fun of racing sailboats.
The Satuit Boat Club welcomes all our sailors back for the 2025 racing program. If you are a new racer, we are here to help you make the most of your experience with help finding crew or information on the race course, local rules, and shoreside activities.
Scituate Sailing will again have several races open to all members and visiting yachtsmen in good standing. This includes Wednesday night spring and summer series, a fall weekend series and several special regattas, including our Mass Bay qualifying Scituate Invitational.
There are two significant changes for the 2025 Racing Season:
-
We will return to the PHRF based scoring system instead of the ORR-ez races run over the past few years. We are making this change to help encourage more casual yachtsmen to join in the racing.
-
We will be condensing the classes from 3 classes (A, B, and C) into 2 classes (Spinnaker and Non-Spinnaker). Skippers will register which class they will participate in for the entire series (Spring, Early Summer, Late Summer, and Fall Series). However, a boat registered for the Spinnaker class who elect to use their non-spinnaker PHRF rating for a specific race would have their results for that race count towards their placement in the Spinnaker class.
For many years, Scituate Sailing has been about competition, sportsmanship, and participation. All skippers and crew are encouraged to become members by filling out an application and paying the required fees, which we put to good use running the races and related activities. Any boat with an assigned PHRF rating may compete for trophies in any and all of our series as well as PHRF events held away from Scituate.
We are looking forward to yet another great sailing season in 2025. Please feel free to contact race@satuitboatclub.net with your questions and suggestions. See you on the starting line!
Sincerely,
James Plassmann
